Customer count map (Google maps?) -

I have a two column list with a US zip code and a count (the number of subscribers in this case). I want to keep this data on a map. Will Google Maps API be a good fit for this?

It seems that this would be a common type of problem for the existing (preferably Java based) solution without first re-inventing a wheel.

Any suggestions?
